DECEMBER EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
- U.S. dollar at 2.5-year lows. More modest losses could be coming if Congress agrees to a pandemic relief bill which would boost risk sentiment at the cost of the greenback
- Euro weakened past our forecast and has broken above a key psychological level without any verbal intervention from the European Central Bank. The Euro’s run may be running out of steam but the common currency has gained 9% against the dollar this year, its best run since 2017 reports John Doyle
- The Sterling continues to march higher and break fresh 2.5 year highs despite the lack of a concrete post-Brexit deal. Sterling has risen 2% in the last three days even as Prime Minister Johnson says no deal is the “most likely” scenario
